West Virginia Waterfall Tour & Beckley, WV

 Before we left I found out about the WV Waterfall trail.  Sign up before you go.  You can check in at waterfalls & earn prizes. I got a sticker & waterbottle for my 10 waterfalls.

Our first waterfall was Kanawha Falls.  We made the mistake of following Apple maps.  It took us out of the way, down to backroad.

 view right along US 60.  Go to the public fishing area for best views.

Just down the road on 60 is Cathedral Falls.  Another easy roadside falls

New River Gorge National Park - WV

 Navigating the New River Gorge NP is harder than some parks because it is so broken up.  There isn't a good way to get from one part to another without backtracking.  It also includes some rough back roads.

This is the view from Canyon Rim overlook at the Visitor's Center.  There was a way to drive under the bridge but the road was closed when we were there.

Dunloup Falls - easy roadside but narrow road to get there. 3508 Co Rte 25, Oakhill

Finn's Falls - parking right before you go to ACE Adventure Resort in Thurmond

Castle Rock trail - fun hike

Sandstone Falls - we didn't go to the overlook but took back country roads.  I wouldn't recommend the back roads

Near by there's a parking lot for Big Branch Falls.  I read doing it clockwise was better,

Douglas Falls - Thomas WV

 We stopped at Douglas Falls on our way to Blackwater Falls State Park.  The drive in was a little rough but a easy hike to the falls.

Smoke Hole Caverns & Dolly Sods WV

 Our full day in WV was rainy so we decided to check out Smoke Hole Caverns.  It wasn't as big as Mammoth Cave, but more impressive formulations in some ways.

We were close to Dolly Sods & I had read some much about it we decided to go visit after the caverns.  The weather was nice at the bottom but about 1 mile from the top we realized the weather wasn't ideal.  It was almost 5 miles of dirt, rough roads.  Not the best idea.

At the bottom near Bear Rocks trail.  It was so windy we could hardly open the car door, so I took these pictures from inside the car.
