Marquette Area Waterfalls - Michigan UP

 Dead River Falls area was one of our favorites.  If you can get over the initial climb, the series of falls & cascades are beautiful.

We made the mistake of following goggle's directions to Carp River Falls.  It was dirt road for the last mile.  Apparently there was a better way.

About a 20 minute hike to the top.  Well worth it.  There's an easy way & more difficult way up.

 After leaving Tahquamenon Falls, we traveled through the Pictures Rocks National Lakeshore.  There were some nice falls, including a few we didn't do.  It was a lot of extra driving.  If I would do it again, I would do it on a separate day & then wouldn't have been too tired to do more of the hikes.

Tahquamenon Falls State Park - Michigan UP

 Tahquamenon Falls State Park - you need the Michigan Recreation Passport - $9/day for non Michigan residents.  Definitely worth the stop.

Lower falls area

We "rented" a rowboat for $20 to go over to the island.  There's a 1 mile hike around the island that gets you closer views of the falls.  It looks like they are building a bridge.
