Kennywood - Pittsburgh PA

 We took our son to Kennywood for his 16th birthday.  He's a big amusement park enthusiast & this was our first visit.  A few advantages of this park.  You can park for free in certain areas, you can take your own food in, the lines aren't as long, & it's not spreadout as some parks.

Buttermilk Falls - near Beaver Falls, PA

 

Ohiopyle Falls - PA

There's a great hike around the Ohiopyle Falls, near the Visitor Center in Ohiopyle city.  I wish we had time to hike around Ferncliff Peninsula there, but we were tired & had already hiked a lot.

Jonathan Run Falls & Hike - Ohiopyle, PA

 

This was probably my favorite hike in Ohiopyle.  I wish I had taken better notes on the hike before we started because again we didn't have a signal to look at a map.  

It was very muddy.  A few of the hikes down to the falls weren't the best.  I was glad I had my trekking poles.  

There was one hike down to the Lower Jonathan Run falls that I passed on because it was so muddy.  Here's the picture from the top.

Some other hikers told us about Sugar Run falls at the end of the hike.  We hiked past the falls to the GAP bike trail.  We took a left & it was just a little ways down on the left.

Meadow Run Natural Slides, Flat Rock, & Cascades - Ohiopyle, PA

 This is a "lollipop" hike - a straight hike with a loop and the back down the "stick".  It wasn't well marked & we ended on cutting off part of the loop.  It was getting late, so we ended up coming back the next morning for the Cascades.  Glad we did, but realized we had been really close the day before.  There was no signal to look at maps on my phone.
